Bachelor of Arts is one of the oldest and well-known undergraduate academic programs in the world. It is commonly known as BA which is a three-year program in India. Duration & Eligibility
The common requirement for pursuing the degree is plus two, from the recognized board under the central/state education board. There is no restriction on the stream in the higher secondary level. The candidate with science, commerce or arts background can opt for the arts program in the graduate level. The applicant must be 17 years of age or more. The requisite minimum percentile will vary from universities or colleges. In the 2011-14 academic year the DU has put the cut off of 96% & above for different programs under arts stream.

Admission Procedure for BA program
The admission process for the bachelor’s degree in the arts subjects depends on the merit list prepared by the university or colleges. The list considers the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examination, higher secondary, and also the extra curricular activities of the candidates. For some course like designing, Hotel Management etc. the universities/institute conducts entrance test like NEED, CEED, NCHMCTEE etc. for the admission purpose. The application for the bachelor’s course will be available from the month of June from the university/college counters. The filled form should be submitted to the admission center before the final date.

BA Course Evaluation
The BA course valuation is primarily done by the exam conducted at the year end or by the semester examination. The course curriculum also includes the internal assessment done by the respective faculty of each subjects. These internal assessments are mainly done on the basis of classroom participations, assignments and classroom projects. The year end examination is common at the university level and the common evaluation is done at the university examination centers. It is mandatory that the students should score the required minimum marks in each subject in each year.

Remuneration after BA
There isn’t any fixed pay package for the candidates having graduation in arts courses. It will vary according to the area and sector of working, the knowledge and expertise of the candidates. The Government and private firms have a difference in the salary package for their employees. The fresher in journalism can earn from Rs. 10.000-12,000/month and one who works for the public sector bank can get Rs. 18,000/month from the initial stage.
